Making Space for Healing—One Corner at a Time

Hi, I’m Caitlyn Kearns-Galeano, founder and CEO of Moodspace Method.
I created this company because I believe
emotional intelligence can shape so much more than our relationships or reactions—it can shape our entire environment. And at Moodspace Method, that’s exactly how we approach design.

When I create a space, I don’t just decorate—I try to establish a mood. I use color, texture, layout, lighting, intentional organization, and even symbolism to support whatever emotional experience I want to create. Maybe I need grounding. Maybe I need inspiration. Maybe I just need to feel calm and clear. But everything in the space is selected with that in mind.

Recently, I went through a divorce. It was painful and raw, and all of that was happening while I was trying to bring this company to life. Building something like this takes an immense amount of time, energy, and sacrifice—and I work seven days a week to make it happen. Since I couldn’t take on a full-time job while launching Moodspace, I made the decision to temporarily move in with my parents to save money and stay focused.

They live in your average American ranch-style home, and the basement hadn’t really been touched in years. The kids had long moved out, and the space had become a mix of storage and a makeshift exercise area. The walls and floors had recently been redone, so I had a clean slate to work with—but emotionally, it felt like anything but.

It wasn’t easy trying to build a business while processing the kind of grief and loss that comes with divorce. But I realized that made it the perfect time to create another Moodspace—because this one had to hold everything I was carrying: ambition, heartbreak, uncertainty, hope.

I always start with organization. For me, my environment reflects how I feel internally. If I’m emotionally chaotic, my space becomes chaotic. But the beautiful thing is—it works the other way too. When my space is clear, calm, and intentional, I feel more grounded  and in control. It’s symbiotic. So the first step was figuring out what I’d be keeping in the basement and how I could organize it in a way that was both visually beautiful  and emotionally soothing.

I bought a gorgeous white bench seat from Wayfair where I keep all the dog’s things. I added a three-tiered wood shelving unit that acts like an open closet—holding bedsheets, cleaning supplies, and other essentials—all neatly tucked into curated containers so it’s aesthetically pleasing and practical. I found a small dresser that fit perfectly in the closet and matched the warm tone of the hardwood floors.

I’m mindful not to give too much away about how I approach design, because that’s part of the method I’ve worked hard to build—but many of the choices I made are grounded in universal design truths: functionality, intention, flow, and emotional resonance.

One of my core beliefs is that everything you put in a space should bring you some form of joy  or meaning. So I made sure to carve out corners of beauty  and reflection, like the little area near my bed with an inspirational piece above it. That part of the room is meant to feel grounding—it’s where I journal, process, and reflect on everything I’ve been through.

But I also made room for inspiration—like my astronaut statue and space-themed artwork—because staying connected to imagination and curiosity  is what fuels my creativity. It’s where ideas for things like the Moodspace Method Wisdom Journal  come from. That journal, by the way, is particularly close to my heart. It was born out of this exact season of my life: rebuilding, reimagining, and refusing to give up.

The desk area, on the other hand, is intentionally designed to feel luxurious. Gold tones, rich finishes, elevated organization—it’s a space that reminds me what I’m working toward. I’m building Moodspace Method not just to help people feel emotionally safe, but to create a brand that allows me—and others—to live a high-quality, emotionally aligned life. And my taste leans toward luxury  because I believe beauty isn’t superficial—it’s nourishing.

And the truth is, this basement is proof. Proof that even with limited resources, in the middle of a difficult chapter, you can create a space that holds you. A space that makes you feel safe, empowered, clear, even rich—not in money, but in intention.

This isn’t a Pinterest-perfect design. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s layered with grief and growth. And yet, it still became a Moodspace.

Because any space—any space—can become a Moodspace.

You don’t need a mansion. You don’t need endless money.
You just need to
believe that your environment should support your healing—and your becoming.

That’s what Moodspace Method  is all about.
